There are three main routes that take you from the city to the sea and countryside. Each route can be shortened to meet your cycling needs but if the mood takes you, you can cycle from coast to coast!

Route 700 – Bay Cycle Way

This is a route that allows a cyclist to enjoy fantastic scenery, taking you along the Morecambe Bay coastline right up to just south of the Lake District at Walney Island, Barrow in Furness. This route provides amazing opportunities to indulge in stunning views, explore multiple eateries and spot rare and exciting wildlife.

Route 90 – Lancashire Cycleway

This route is made up of two 130 mile loops and propels you into the scenic views of the Lancashire countryside. Each loop offers outstanding experiences, the north loop mainly devised of country lanes, explores open moors, small villages and a trip through the RSPB Nature Reserve, Leighton Moss – look out for Marsh Harriers! The south loop offers exploration of historic towns such as Blackburn and Chorley.

Route 69 – Way of the Roses

A challenging and tremendous route, where you can cycle coast to coast! Offering a varied and beautiful landscape to breathe in, this route passes through both the Red Rose county of Lancashire and the White Rose county of Yorkshire.

Whatever your cycling ability, and whatever your reason for hopping on your bike, whether it’s commuting, fitness, a challenge or just a jolly out, there’s a route in Lancaster that’s made for you to enjoy.
